Revenge of the Nerds In the

Revenge of the Nerds

In the long run they lost a HUGE marketshare in the gaming industry and even though BD has the upper-hand over HDDVD, it hasnt even become a blip on the screen when compared to overall DVD sales. It will be interesting to see if Blu-Ray becomes a household staple before it is made obsolete by on demand high def. I seriously doubt BD ever becomes a mainstream format due to the increasing technological advances being made daily in data transfer rates as well as large capacity solid state hard drives. Posted Jan 28, 2008 3:17 pm PT I dont really understand why everyone is down rating zoe256 comement since its true. Blu-Ray is the only format by Sony that was well marketed and succesfull. Just look at beta max, MD and UMD and tell me im wrong. Well couldnt really care less which wins since i own both, but its nice to see they are finally deciding on one and not dancing around the question about which one to support for Revenge of the Nerds years like they did whit beta max. And this is good to since Sony makes high quallity stuff, over pricedBravia, Playstation 3, Cyber-Shot and SonyEricssson but good stuff. Posted Jan 28, 2008 3:11 pm PT I HIGHLY doubt the 360 will get a Blu ray add Sony MADE blu ray, why would MS peddle Sonys products? Also, MS would have to make some sort of deal with Sony in order to see who gets profit from the add on. Enemies dont work together. Posted Jan 28, 2008 3:10 pm PT Who cares? Both formats are extremely overrated. We dont need no stinkin high def discs. Disc formats are going the way of the dinosaur. Posted Jan 28, 2008 3:08 pm PT this is good for gamers and consumers period. for gamers a format that holds more data is better. bigger canvas for programmers to paint on. for general consumers who are not generally that bright it gives them one format to focus on. HD DVD is pretty much delaying the inevitable. 5 bucks says MS already has a bluray player in the works or ready to go to market. Posted Jan 28, 2008 3:06 pm PT Posted Jan 28, 2008 3:03 pm PT Posted Jan 28, 2008 3:02 pm PT Azhar85, I repeat, WHY THE HECK are you talking about the 360 having better games than the PS 3? does this news have anything to do about whos got the better games? THIS IS ABOUT THE FORMAT WAR, NOT THE CONSOLE WAR. Leave your clueless fanboy babble out at the door, or learn to read carefully. Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:59 pm PT The 360 has problems just playing dvds there is no way they will or can have a hd dvd internal drive. Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:51 pm PT Though I like to see anohter Sony victory, this has no effect on the at all; Ive never seen a Woolworths in my life! Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:46 pm PT Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:45 pm PT Its time to Die HD-DvD Sony is unstopable. Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:38 pm PT Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:37 pm PT All you people arguing about Uncharted filling up a BD disk to 90% are failing to mention how much actual VIDEO was on the disk. The extras section is loaded with the making of type vidoes. I am sure it would have been a fraction of the space had they cut all of that out of the game. Well that would be you missing the point. The advantage of Blu-ray is not having to sacrifice and cut things out. Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:34 pm PT i thought blockbuster was bluray exclusive already/Well, in the US it Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:34 pm PT Well if they treat their Blu-ray films like they do their disc based products lol, i hate it when a store removes the disc from the packaging. Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:32 pm PT Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:16 pm PT Posted Jan 28, 2008 2:01 pm PT Anyways, the HD-DVD players are cheaper and many people are thinking about buying a player. If you need a good DVD player, by all means get an HD-DVD player like the ones for around 1 They are really decent DVD upscale too. But of course, you shouldnt think that the format will last you. As Ive said, you dont want to be stuck splurging on a doomed format. By the way, sorry for writing so I have a lot on my mind about this subject.
