Hybrid My neighbor purchased

Hybrid

My neighbor purchased the same unit soon after I did and they too have no complaints about streaming issues with Netflix. We are both on Comcast cable. I highly recommend this player. I researched several blu-ray players before settling on this one. We have an Bravia TV, so this seemed the best partner for our TV. Indeed, that part works well. One button on the BD remote starts the blu-ray player, turns on the TV and automatically switches the input to the blu-ray player. Turning it off does the same thing in reverse. I do not use the power-consuming instant on feature but the start-up is fairly quick. The physical set-up was easy. HDMI to the TV, digital coax to the receiver for optional surround sound, network cable, and power. DVD playback is excellent for movies. No problem with DVD-R or DVDR, but I have not tried DVD/RW discs. It took quite a bit of fiddling around to get the right settings on the TV and player so video playback was smooth. Compared with our old non-progressive scan DVD player, it s fantastic. Netflix has had mixed success. I ve watched 2-3 standard def movies hybrid 2-3 HD. The standard def movies are fine, although after watching a lot of HD television in 1080i FIOS, it s a step back in quality. I m a bit disappointed the sound isn t available in 1 for HD movies which we have for HD movies in FIOS. With the HD movies, I see the same jerkiness others have reported. It s not terrible and I was still able to enjoy the movie. I do not see any buffering issues. The movies start, rewind, forward, etc. without a glitch. I tend not to watch a movie in one sitting so being able to resume right hybrid I hybrid off is great. One feature I like on the player is the LACK of an eject button on the remote. I had to put the player on a shelf behind a glass door the remote works through the glass door with no trouble.
